Invitation To Attend Summer Course
Alex Golding, Men's Division Leader for Central London Area would like to pass on this message to all members of the Men's Division;
I’m happy to inform you that we have confirmed the same venue again for our Men’s course in June 2015 (at 2014 prices) and I really hope you can come!
Please find the attached application form, to fill in and send off with payment ASAP to book your place. Please do begin chanting towards it, considering the dates and putting money aside in advance to make it possible.
2015 is the SGI “Year of Dynamic Development In The New Era of World Wide Kosen-Rufu”. In his encouragement towards the recent study exams, President Ikeda highlights the importance of studying together with a seeking spirit:
Opening a New Era of Kosen-rufu Together [Extract from President Ikeda NL 9104 Oct 2014]
Today, many thinking people are reevaluating their lives and searching for the path to genuine happiness. The ultimate answer to this quest is found in Nichiren Buddhism. Learning about and studying the hope-filled philosophy of human revolution is the purpose of the study exams that have become an SGI tradition. .....
A seeking spirit in faith gives rise to boundless benefit. A spirit to encourage others to reveal their Buddha nature shines with the spirit of the Lotus Sutra. The important thing is that, through the study exam, members feel even more inspired to keep improving themselves, deepen their faith, and advance kosen-rufu.
......From now, from this moment on—this is the spirit of the Buddhism of true cause. Those who brim with this spirit are true victors in faith.....
All we need do is win in life and show actual proof of our Buddhist practice in our daily lives. When we do that, we will be able to share the joy of faith with those around us in a very natural way.
And no matter what happens, it’s vital that we maintain unwavering faith in the Mystic Law throughout our lives.
The Daishonin teaches that each one of us is a Bodhisattva of the Earth with an irreplaceable mission for Kosen Rufu. So let’s seize this rare, joy-filled opportunity to refresh our faith and spend three days together, as we continue to protect and build a precious realm of faith in Central London.
Any queries please do not hesitate to contact the course administrator, Max Longhin (contact details on application form), or myself or your HQ/Chapter Leader.
Thank you for all the efforts you have been making and your support this year!
With Very Best Wishes,
Central London Area Men’s Leader

Invitation To Attend Summer Course
Dear Valiant Men of Hampstead, Camden, Westminster and Heart of London, N. Kensington and Sth Kensington & Chelsea HQs.
I hope this message finds you well and full of vigor and fighting spirit and I am really looking forward to seeing you soon! It is that time of year again – spring is in the air and will soon be upon us....And the Men’s Summer Course is just around the corner!
Firstly though, a huge thank you for all the incredible, consistent efforts you are making in your practice and towards supporting the many people and activities in your area. These are amazingly profound causes, and there are no causes for the sake of kosen rufu that go unrewarded. As Nichiren Daishonin says in the gosho, "On Prayer”:
"Though one might point at the earth and miss it, though one might bind up the sky, though the tides might cease to ebb and flow and the sun rise in the west, it could never come about that the prayers of the practitioner of the Lotus Sutra would go unanswered." (The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin Vol 1, p345)
It is important we have confidence in this noble path we are walking together, always deepening our oneness with our mentor, Daisaku Ikeda, and chanting confident prayer towards concrete goals. The Summer Course is a chance to refresh our faith, deepen our understanding and commitment and share heart to heart bonds with new and old friends.
Please find the attached application for Summer Course together with photos and information. I really hope you can come. Do put the dates in your diary and complete the form as soon as possible. There are only 75 places for a course that now, further to last year’s feedback, has been extended to two nights / three days, so we can spend more time together in this wonderful location.
Any queries please do not hesitate to contact the course administrator, Sergio Dondi (contact details on application form), or myself or your HQ/Chapter Leader.
Our Summer Course Kick Off will be on 30th March 10am-2pm, at The Flyover, 3-5 Thorpe close W10 5XL (off Portobello Rd) where we will also be celebrating SGI Men’s Day! (if you wish, you can bring your application and pay for the course here)
Looking forward to seeing you soon
Very Best Wishes

Calling all men of Westminster!
below follows a letter from Robert Harrap, introducing the next wave of Men's division study material;-
In celebration of 18th November, I am pleased to attach two documents: an introduction to the second men's division study campaign, and the first instalment of our second study campaign: President Ikeda's explanation of the opening line from the first chapter of the Lotus Sutra.
There are many reasons to study the Lotus Sutra, based on President Ikeda's dialogue ('The Wisdom of the Lotus Sutra'), but one key reason is expressed very clearly in this passage:
"Some say the prevailing mood in the world today is one of powerlessness. Whatever the case may be, we are all aware that things cannot continue as they are. Yet decisions about political, economic and environmental issues all seem to be made somewhere beyond our reach. What can the individual accomplish in the face of the huge institutions that run our world? This feeling of powerlessness fuels a vicious cycle that only worsens the situation and increased people's sense of futility.
At the opposite extreme of this sense of powerlessness lie the Lotus Sutra's philosophy of 'three thousand realms in a single moment of life' and the application of this teaching to our daily lives. This principle teaches us that the inner determination of an individual can transform everything. It gives ultimate expression to the infinite potential and dignity inherent in each human life." ['The Wisdom of the Lotus Sutra', volume 1, page 6-7]
I am very much looking forward to studying the Lotus Sutra with you over the next six months or so, and developing the confidence that our inner determination can transform anything.
Very best wishes,
Robert HarrapMens Division Leader, UK
